Battery Recycling

Battery acid from batteries thrown away in normal landfill sites cause huge damage to the environment.

FACTS:

• In Wiltshire we throw away over 4 million batteries every year!  
• The average household in Wiltshire disposes of 21 batteries a year 
• Around 600 million (22,000 tonnes) household batteries are sent to landfill in the UK unnecessarily every year.

Where can I recycle my batteries?

You can also now recycle your old batteries at the customer service desk in Waitrose. All other Supermarkets should be following suit as from January, thanks to new EU legislation .
